Experience

Senior Software Developer, Tallee (Cotton Media Ltd)

May 2024 to now

  • Instrumental in creating an internal platform that lets the business build and iterate on customer acquisition flows of varying types quickly, without a bespoke build per product line.
  • Lead developer on the team delivering an Open Banking integration, covering consent, secure data retrieval and downstream use of that data.
  • Working daily to high-security, high-resilience standards: sensitive customer and financial data, defensive design, auditability and robust release practice.
  • Active on the DevOps side of managing production releases, and entrusted with access to production systems in a security conscious arena.
  • Worked heavily with external suppliers to develop APIs for communication with partner firms.

Managing Director and Lead Software Engineer, Prestanda Ltd

August 2020 to now

  • Led a team working with online retailers to find efficiencies and revenue opportunities in any process involving customer or order data.
  • Created internal and client-facing tools using Python, Django, AWS, Postgres, SQL, Go, Svelte, and more.
  • Pivoted the business towards launching and operating its own products, taking each from concept to live platform. Currently those include HomeCadence (recurring home services marketplace) and ThingTrack (home inventory SaaS).
  • Own the full lifecycle of those products: proposition, design, build, infrastructure, payments and go-to-market.

Technical Director, The Marketing Eye

May 2017 to August 2020

  • Developed software innovations within a marketing agency to efficiently hit targets agreed between the business and its customers, including intelligent data acquisition used before, during and after campaigns.
  • Built and maintained in-house tools to track campaign success and deliver results to key stakeholders in a digestible format.
  • Oversaw the ideation, design and creation of a standalone SaaS product enabling companies to monitor news about themselves, their industry and their competitors.

Managing Director, fifty6 Ltd

May 2010 to May 2017

  • Built and grew a marketing company serving online retailers, delivering campaigns judged solely on measurable ROI, alongside the bespoke tooling used to deliver and measure them.

Team Principal, NOMAD Sim Racing

June 2017 to now

  • Transformed a community group of hobbyists into a structured eSports team competing at the highest levels of online motorsport, handling driver and sponsor agreements and building the tooling that runs the team.

Recent projects

HomeCadence

A marketplace for recurring home services (window cleaning, gardening, valeting, domestic cleaning and more) matching households with approved local providers on a repeating schedule, with payment taken after each visit. Built and operated end to end under Prestanda, including provider onboarding, scheduling and payments. homecadence.co.uk

ThingTrack

A home inventory SaaS product: spaces, containers and items, with printable QR labels so a bin in the garage tells you exactly what is inside it. Product design, build and infrastructure all in-house at Prestanda. thingtrack.co.uk

Outbox AI

Built to help customer service teams generate draft responses to customer enquiries, leveraging OpenAI APIs alongside client-specific LLMs to save customers hundreds of hours while ensuring company-wide consistency. I took this from initial ideation through single-handedly building the MVP, then led the project to a sturdily built product. prestanda.co.uk/outbox-ai

Magento ecommerce repricer

Built at the request of a large UK retailer to keep a catalogue of over 12,000 products priced as profitably as possible at all times, taking into account stock level, recent ordering patterns, the weather, competitor pricing and more. Built from the ground up almost entirely by me on Django, Postgres and JavaScript. prestanda.co.uk/work/retail-product-repricing

Market Monitor

A SaaS product for a marketing company diversifying into product revenue. Built on Django and Python, it pulls news from around the web and identifies the companies that news refers to, useful for PR and internal teams alike. marketmonitor.io

Nomad Nigel

Built for a competitive eSports team and integrated with their Wagtail/Django site, “Nigel” monitors results and upcoming events so the organisation is prepared for competition, and is available to the team as a Discord bot where they do most of their communication. I also designed and built the team site. nomadsimracing.co.uk

iRacing Data API

An open source Python wrapper for the iRacing API, born out of building “Nigel” and released to solve the same problem for others. Initially built entirely by me, it has since received contributions from the wider open source community. github.com/jasondilworth56/iracingdataapi
